My Evolution as a Blockchain Trailblazer

Ground breaker and Convener

Philip stands out as a trailblazer in the African crypto space, having organized the continents first-ever Bitcoin summit on December 11, 2014, under the banner of the Dream Bitcoin Foundation, now known as Blockchain Foundation Africa. This landmark event set the stage for a wave of enthusiasm and adoption that is still gaining momentum today.

His initiative, Coinfest Ghana, ran from 2015 to 2021, further cementing his reputation as an innovator and community builder in the African blockchain ecosystem. Through an array of meetups—highlighting various cryptocurrencies such as Epic Cash, Nano, Betcoin, Paxful, Noones, and Lbank—Philip has reached out to crypto enthusiasts in Sierra Leone, Gambia, Nigeria, and beyond, fostering a network of knowledge and exchange.

Educational Crusade

Philip recognized the significance of education in advancing blockchain technology. His contributions include organizing the Paxful Campus Tour in 2022, educating the bright minds at Kumasi Technical University and the University of Ghana about the power of cryptocurrencies.

Furthermore, as the Convener of the Africa Blockchain Summit, which debuted in 2023 at the University of Ghana, he continues to spearhead dialogues centred on the future of digital assets.
The Tether Campus Tour Ghana 2024, another of Philip’s initiatives, brought valuable knowledge to the students of multiple prestigious universities, illustrating the vast reach of his advocacy.

Regulatory Engagement

Not limiting his role to community engagement, Philip Agyei Asare stepped into the regulatory domain. He participated in a key stakeholder meeting hosted by the Bank of Ghana, aimed at addressing the policy and regulations framework for digital assets – a testament to his esteemed position in the crypto sphere.

Community Development

Transitioning from digital enrichment to tangible support, Philip, in partnership with Built with Bitcoin Foundation, spearheaded the development of a borehole water system for the Edwenese Community in Ejisu, delivering the essential gift of clean water.

In a monumental stride, he also facilitated the creation of Kumasi’s first Bitcoin Technology Center, a hub dedicated to educating the Ghanaian public about the intricacies and opportunities presented by Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
